I am struck again by the words of the Apostle Paul as he faced an imminent death. What would you expect as the last words of a man who had given his life for the extension of the gospel? What would he say to a young pastor, Timothy, and what was needed for the church where he served in Ephesus?
“I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: preach the word…” (2 Timothy 4:1-2).
No command in the New Testament is freighted with eternal weight like this command. God is present as we gather. Christ Jesus is going to judge every person. He’s going to appear. He’s going to consummate his kingdom. In light of these momentous realities, we all need the Word of God preached. Here are the passages that we will look at this month. I hope this helps as you prepare for Sundays.
