In less than three weeks, the youth of our church will be together for four days of worship, study, service, and fun. It’s called Youth Camp, it’s taking place July 26-29 and I am really jazzed up about it. I want our entire church family to be aware because this is for more than just the youth. It’s an opportunity for all of us to be a part of what God is doing in and through their lives.
The theme is “Not Conformed.” It comes from Romans 12:2 where God tells us, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind…” In our minds and hearts there is a battle being waged for God to be at the center and Christ to be Savior. We are going to spend the week looking at the things on his heart.
Whether you have youth participating or not, here is what we can all do:
- Pray – Let’s be in prayer together that God would powerfully encounter the life of each young man and young lady present. Our plans are no substitute for his power. Our church will be built up as our youth encounter the Risen Christ.
- Donating – During Youth Camp, the youth will be serving at a homeless shelter called St. Francis House. We want to bring donations of non-perishable foods with us to stock their pantry. You can help out by donating dry goods (canned or boxed) over the next three Sunday. There will be a collection box in the back of the auditorium.
- Follow Along – For our devotional time we will be studying Philippians. This Sunday I’ll be challenging the youth to memorize Philippians 2:1-11 in preparation for camp. I’d encourage you to do the same. What an encouragement it would be for our youth to have the rest of the church following along and spurring them on.
- Minister Together – The capstone of Youth Camp will take place Friday night, July 29th when we meet for a church-wide night of worship, ministry and prayer. This is a great time for us as a church to hear from many of the youth and to pray for them and their parents at the end of the week. Mark your calendars for 7-8:30pm on that Friday.
